Join a growing payments and technology company in a 6-month maternity leave cover role, supporting functional testing, defect management, test documentation and release quality across complex application environments. We’re currently looking for a Test Engineer to support an active delivery program across functional, regression and exploratory testing. This is a hands-on individual contributor role suited to someone who enjoys executing test cases, identifying defects, working closely with developers and business users, and contributing directly to release confidence. Experience testing Windows desktop applications, thick-client applications, integration-heavy systems or compliance-focused software environments would be highly regarded. The Role Design, prepare and execute functional, regression and exploratory test cases Review requirements, user stories and technical documentation to understand testing scope Log clear, reproducible defects with evidence, steps and severity Work closely with developers, business analysts and users during testing and defect triage Support SIT, UAT, release readiness and post-release validation Prepare and maintain test plans, test cases, defect reports and test summary documentation Communicate testing progress, defects, risks and blockers clearly Contribute to existing automation frameworks where capability exists About You Previous experience as a Test Engineer, QA Engineer, Software Tester or Test Analyst Hands-on experience executing test cases and managing defects Experience writing clear test documentation, defect reports and test summaries Comfortable reviewing requirements and identifying gaps or ambiguity Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps or similar defect tracking tools Good communication skills and a professional, collaborative approach Able to work independently in a hands-on delivery-focused role Highly Regarded Experience testing Windows desktop applications, WinForms, WPF or thick-client applications Experience testing integration-heavy, hardware-connected or high-availability systems Experience with API or integration testing using Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI or similar Ability to contribute to or extend automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, WinAppDriver or similar Awareness of CI/CD environments and ability to interpret build or test results Key Details 6-month contract opportunity Maternity leave cover Parramatta location Hybrid environment with onsite presence required Hands-on Test Engineer role No supervisory responsibilities ASAP start Growing payments and technology company If you’re a hands-on Test Engineer looking for a contract role where you can contribute directly to release quality, functional testing and defect management across business-critical systems, this could be a great opportunity to step in and make an impact.
